General: Is Norton Slowing your PC down?
Many clients have complained that the newer versions of Norton Internet Security have slowed their PC's to a crawl. I agree, and there is a solution...

Remove Norton altogether and get ESET Smart Security, a complete firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam and anti-malware solution. It works flawlessly and does NOT slow down the machine it is running on.

General: Top 10 Thoughts for 2008
Here are the Top 10 thoughts for 2008

Number 10
Life is sexually transmitted.

Number 9
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

Number 8
Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich.

Number 7
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks.

Number 6
Some people are like a Slinky ... not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs.

Number 5
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals dying of nothing.

Number 4
All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

Number 3
Why does a slight tax increase cost you £200.00 and a substantial tax cut saves you £0.30?

Number 2
In the '60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal.

AND THE NUMBER 1 THOUGHT FOR 2008:
We know exactly where one cow with Mad-cow-disease is located among the millions of cows in England, but we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the Department of Agriculture in charge of immigration.

And the BONUS thought for today: "Life is like a jar of chillies. What you do today, might burn your backside tomorrow".

General: Are you losing letters and parcels in the mail?
It is this authors bitter experience that more mail than ever is going missing from the Royal Mail. Even recorded items are not safe from the RM's "vanishing mail" syndrome. But this Christmas the problem seems MUCH worse with a far higher percentage of mail going "missing".

As it is obvioulsly not possible to "lose" over a million items a week "down the back of a filing cabinet" one could be forgiven for thinking that maybe these "losses" are a lot more organised than the RM would like to have us think. (It takes a lot of lorries to make 1,000,000 items go missing every week).

If you have had experience this Christmas with presents for loved ones that you have entrusted to the Royal Mail going missing - then voice your concerns by reporting your experience to the BBC Watchdog - you can make your complaint at the BBC Watchdog Consumer Complaint Report Form

General: Spammers and Child Abusers - is there a difference?
Today I was considering spam... as you do... and although it is now no longer a problem for me as I now use SpamCop mailboxes - a bargain at $30 a year, from www.spamcop.net - it occurred to me that SPAMMERS ARE ABUSING OUR CHILDREN !!!

Think about it... much of the spam nowadays is completely disgusting, and spammers do not care who they are sending their spam to when they fire it off to a list of millions of addresses. A large percentage of those lists ARE CHILDREN as many kids now have email addresses at home, at school, and often even on their mobile phones...

So these sick spammers are sending disgusting messages TO OUR CHILDREN - which in my book makes them child abusers, and possibly even paedophiles.

So... if we can't lock them all up for sending junk email, SURELY we can lock them up for ABUSING CHILDREN??

So if you know anyone who has started spamming operations recently - please remind them that what they are doing is tantamount to child abuse!

All commments welcome!

General: House Price Crash - Worried Yet?
If you are not yet worried about a house price crash - you SHOULD be... While many agents, the government and the press are keeping pretty quiet about it, prices are dropping dramatically around the country. If you need proof, check out the ONLY website set up to record DROPPING prices around the country: PropertySnake.co.uk (the opposite of property ladder). The site clearly shows that prices are dropping by as much as 40% in some parts, with 30% drops being common.

General: Help Clean up the Net
More than seven websites showing child pornography are reported to the police every day, an online charity has said.

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) also said new research showed the images, which included rape, sadism and bestiality, had become more severe.

Now web giants including Tiscali, Yahoo and MSN are helping to publicise the IWF's hotline, which allows internet users to report these sites.

You can help - if you stumble upon a site showing illegal content report it immediately to the Internet Watch Foundation

General: Viagra at top of UK Google searches
Apparently one of the most used search terms on Google UK is the word "Viagra". That is a little disturbing if you stop to think about it - could it be something in the water?
